Spis Mat & Dryck
Our second personal favorite and we come here regularly. Informal typical Swedish style and you hear languages from all over the world. Moreover, they have more Belgian beers in the fridge than the average restaurant in ... Belgium. The outer facade makes you doubt for a moment, but once you enter nothing remains of that.

Old Homestead
Eenvoudige & gezellige keuken op de rivieroever van de Torne Älv in een gebouw uit de 18de eeuw. Ideaal voor een snelle hap met de kids en op het menu staan bvb ook pizza, hamburger of salade.

Rooftop bar New Scandic
De oude stad verhuist owv de mijn activiteiten dezer dagen naar een nieuwe plek enkele kilometers verderop. De New Kiruna City heeft een fantastisch Scandic hotel met rooftop bar waar lounge beats uit de speaker knallen terwijl je uitzicht hebt over de hele stad en in de verte de mijn. Op het gelijkvloers is ook een prima restaurant, maar wij komen graag in de rooftop bar voor ons aperol spritz aperitiefje.

Sooner or later?
The Swedes don't have a very late restaurant culture. Both Icehotel and Spis are used to an international audience and sometimes facilitate that you come to dinner later... But check well in advance until what time the kitchen is open. In more remote places, it can sometimes be 7:00 PM, for example.
And what about alcohol?
Driving under the influence is strictly enforced in Sweden. The maximum promillage is 0.2 and if you drink more, you risk having your driving license revoked immediately.
As for buying alcohol in the shop... In supermarkets you can buy beer with a limited alcohol content. For a good bottle of wine, gin or whatever you have to go to theSystemBolaget.
